Welcome to Scales and Tails!6

Scales and Tails is a small fun filled exhibition set up by Katy Wood.  Katy and her dad, Ewan, are available to groups and organisations where we take a selection of Katy's animals along for people to learn more about them and to handle them.  This provides an unusual activity as many people rarely get the chance to handle reptiles and this often allows people to overcome their fears and preconceived ideas of how reptile feel or behave.

Reptiles are also very therapeutic and many people find they have a calming effect.

In the very near future we will also be available for private events but at present we can only cater for established groups.

Scales and Tails is strictly non-profit!!  No monies will be accepted as payment for our time or expenses.  If people feel strongly about paying for a quality service then we would ask them to make a small donation to a local animal charity such as P.A.W.S.S. or New Arc or an animal charity of your choice (there's enough to choose from!!)

The purpose of Scales and Tails is to educate members of the public about reptiles.  We cover topics such as:

  • Feeding
  • Handling
  • Equipment
  • Costs
  • Suitability of different species
  • Lifespan
  • Breeding
Obviously we will endeavour to answer any other question people have.  We are experienced reptile handlers, but do not claim to be world experts.  We will try to find out for you though!!
